Good to know

Take-home pay is what reaches your bank account after payroll deductions. If your pay changes from month to month, use a typical low month so the plan still works when income dips.

For spending, a recent bank statement is more accurate than memory, especially for small purchases. Savings and buffer cover your emergency fund, long-term savings and money set aside for bigger goals such as a move or a new appliance.
